This is a directory of federal and non-federal programs that support the integration of behavioral health and primary care. It is intended to provide a picture of the integration ecosystem, and the roles these programs (and their parent organizations) play within it. CARF International

Description

An independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services, including Integrated Primary Care. Through accreditation, CARF assists service providers in demonstrating value by the quality of their services and meeting internationally-recognized organizational and program standards. CARF provides accreditation for Health Home programs, and beginning in July 2026, any programs offering BHI may seek accreditation for their integrated services through CARF’s Integrated Primary Care Specialty Designation.

Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS)

Description

A nonprofit that is advancing initiatives aimed at improving the U.S. healthcare system, particularly through Medicaid.  CHCS focuses on integrating mental health and substance use services with other healthcare services, creating models for delivery system transformation. This includes improving access, quality, and outcomes for people with complex health and social needs by leveraging policy, practice, and funding strategies.

Center for Integrated Primary Care (CIPC)

Description

An organization which delivers online training and technical assistance to primary care practices and primary care team members to address the physical and mental health of their patients.

Center for Psychology & Health

Description

A center within a scientific and professional member organization that promotes psychology’s role in improving mental and physical health.  The center engages in a variety of cross-association and organizational collaborations to apply psychology's expertise to increase access to quality health care at a reduced cost.

Center of Excellence for Integrated Health Solutions

Description

A Center funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and operated by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing that advances bi-directional primary and behavioral health care integration by providing high quality, evidence-based and evidence-informed training and technical assistance (TTA) to a national audience that includes a specific focus on the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM).

Children’s Hospital Association

Description

A nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing child health through innovation in the quality, cost and delivery of care in children’s hospitals and health systems. They produce resources and host events focused on integrated behavioral health and advocate for policies promoting children's mental health.

Description

A not-for-profit member association that supports healthcare professionals in integrating physical and behavioral health through community, content development and consultation.

Committee on Integrated Care

Description

A committee within a professional member organization that advises on policy and education to improve psychiatric care access through enhanced coordination and integrated care models. It focuses on financing mechanisms and advancing models integrating behavioral health with general medical care. The Committee collaborates with other APA committees on technology, regulatory issues, and best practices to support integrated care and bidirectional integration.

Cornerstone Whole Healthcare Organization (C-WHO)

Description

A private non-profit organization that supports clinics and payors in implementing and optimizing behavioral health integration. Their team provides hands-on technical assistance, ensuring a seamless transition while enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.

Department of Psychiatry at Michigan Medicine (PRISM)

Description

Provides individualized consultation, training, and implementation support on the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) to health systems, provider organizations, and payors. Implementation support includes workflow modification, adoption of population-health approaches, sustainability planning, evaluation support, and fidelity monitoring. Team and role-specific clinical training is provided for primary care providers, psychiatric consultants, and behavioral health care managers.
