Committee on Integrated Care

Description

A committee within a professional member organization that advises on policy and education to improve psychiatric care access through enhanced coordination and integrated care models. It focuses on financing mechanisms and advancing models integrating behavioral health with general medical care. The Committee collaborates with other APA committees on technology, regulatory issues, and best practices to support integrated care and bidirectional integration.

Division of Behavioral Health | Office of Clinical and Preventive Service

Description

A division of Indian Health Service (IHS) which works in partnership with Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Urban Indian health organizations to coordinate national efforts to share knowledge and build capacity through the development and implementation of evidence/practice based and cultural-based practices in Indian Country.

Eugene S. Farley, Jr. Health Policy Center

Description

A team of primary care and behavioral health providers, public health and policy professionals, scientists, educators, students, and fellows focused on health policy research, translation, and implementation to promote whole health for all.

Mental Health America (MHA) Integrated Health Care Initiative

Description

A nonprofit organization and affiliate network that advocates for policies  that incorporate behavioral health into primary care settings, MHA aims to improve patient outcomes and reduce care fragmentation. Their efforts emphasize the need for comprehensive, patient-centered approaches that address mental health, substance use disorders, and chronic physical conditions, fostering a holistic approach to healthcare delivery.

National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP)

Description

A nonprofit organization that supports state leaders by providing technical assistance, publishing and disseminating research and analyses, sharing best practices, and bringing new health policy ideas across executive and legislative branches of state government. Behavioral Health is a policy area of focus, with specific resources related to behavioral health integration.

Primary Care Collaborative (PCC)

Description

A national, non-partisan multistakeholder organization that is advocating for the strengthening of primary care to improve health and well-being through team-based, comprehensive care. Through policy advocacy and sharing best practices, the PCC encourages the delivery of comprehensive healthcare that addresses both physical and mental health needs, fostering better outcomes and more efficient whole-person care.

Primary Care-Mental Health Initiative | U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Description

A program comprised of mental health experts that utilizes a collaborative behavioral health services model to ensure veterans receive timely access to patient-centered mental health support. Their approach aims at enhancing patient engagement, clinical and functional outcomes, and patient satisfaction by addressing both physical and behavioral health needs.

Providers Clinical Support System-Medications for Opioid Use Disorders (PCSS-MOUD)

Description

A program initiative, led by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP), dedicated to enhancing the prevention, treatment, and management of opioid use disorders through evidence-based education and training. It supports healthcare professionals with resources, mentorship, and clinical guidance to improve patient care and expand access to effective treatment strategies for substance use disorders across multidisciplinary professions.

RAND Institute

Description

A nonprofit research organization dedicated to addressing health care access, affordability, and quality to improve the lives of people, particularly those in greatest need. RAND has conducted a broad range of research on behavioral health integration, focusing on integration of primary care and specialty mental health services, integration of mental health and substance use treatment, and provision of mental health care in primary care settings.

The Bowman Family Foundation (BFF)

Description

A private nonprofit dedicated to improving lives affected by mental health and substance use conditions. It designs and funds projects, reports, and tools to advance access, equity, and quality in behavioral healthcare. Resources help stakeholders—employers, administrators, and regulators—assess access, quality, and costs, improve parity compliance, and implement evidence-based practices to enhance care and optimize healthcare expenditures.
