This session is part of the National Alliance for HIV Education and Workforce Development's (NAHEWD's) national webinar series Bridging HIV and SUD: Innovations in the Field. The series will highlight various innovative models and approaches to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV.
In this session, the speaker will review current guidelines and evidence for long-acting injectable (LAI) buprenorphine in people with opioid use disorder (OUD), as well as emerging evidence and best practices around direct-to-inject buprenorphine initiation.
Learning Objectives:
- Counsel patients about options for LAI buprenorphine.
- Understand when and how to connect patients to direct-to-inject buprenorphine as a novel method for buprenorphine initiation.
- Identify strategies your clinics/settings can use to implement LAI buprenorphine.
