The PCSS-MOUD Exchange is a four-session course focused on the implementation of prescribing medications for treating opioid use disorder (MOUD) in a variety of healthcare settings. PCSSMOUD-X is intended for an interprofessional audience. Prescribers with frontline experience prescribing MOUD and developing clinic workflows will be available during all four sessions to answer participants’ questions and discuss real-world cases. These sessions will take place on:

Session 3 Description:
Once you've successfully managed the organizational and clinical steps to implement treatment for patients with OUD, you need to ensure continued access to high-quality care for our patients, including those with on-going challenges. What does treatment look like for patients on their first visit and follow-up visits? This session will discuss key considerations for patient initiation (induction) and on-going visits, including lab guidelines. It will additionally address the clinical management of patients with continued opioid use (e.g., fentanyl, novel synthetic opioids), poly-substance use, overdose risk, and comorbid trauma and mental health conditions.
Educational Objectives:
- Review and consider intake assessment / lab guidelines and practice.
- Determine key considerations for patient initiation visit (induction) and follow-up visits, and patient stabilization.
- Explain considerations in managing continued opioid use (e.g., fentanyl, novel synthetic opioids, etc.), poly-substance use and comorbid trauma and mental health conditions.
- Discuss Harm Reduction strategies to decreased overdose risk.
