The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's (NASEM)'s Roundtable on Population Health Improvement will conduct a public workshop to discuss various dimensions of violence and community safety in the United States. This workshop will bring together researchers, practitioners, leaders, and others with expertise in violence prevention and promoting community safety to:
- Define community safety
- Examine the landscape of threats to safety affecting specific populations
- Explore attributes of physical spaces and social structures that create and reinforce safer communities
- Discuss frameworks for reimagining public safety, and related policy and programmatic interventions.
This event may be attended virtually or in-person. Day 1 of this event will take place from 9:00am to 4:30pm ET on December 6, 2023. Day 2 of this event will take place from 9:00am to 1:00pm ET on December 7, 2023.
