SAMHSA: Supportive Housing Models That Work: Serving Individuals with Serious Mental Illness, Serious Emotional Disturbances, Substance Use Disorders or Co-Occurring Disorders

SAMHSA’s Homeless and Housing Resource Center (HHRC) uses its Virtual Learning Community (VLC) model to deeply explore topics of interest to the field centered on a common theme. VLCs are composed of a series of webinars and webinar supporting materials. These communities are open to the field at no cost to the participant.

Each webinar provides an opportunity to hear from national experts as well as provider representatives. The presenters offer guidance on best and promising practices as well as practical lessons learned from on-the-ground experience. The following VLC is being offered to those who have completed the HHRC 4-hour online training course titled Introduction to Housing Models, Housing Navigation, and Engagement or those with strong foundational knowledge and experience of best practices in supportive housing who are interested in more in depth content on using supportive housing to address the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness with serious mental illness, serious emotional disturbances, substance use disorder or co-occurring disorders.

In this three-part series, attendees will learn innovative ways to center equity and the perspective of those with lived experience to support individuals experiencing homelessness with behavioral health needs in securing and sustaining a range of affordable housing paired with supportive services that match their varied needs and preferences.
