Integrated Behavioral Health: The Journey to Becoming the Standard of Care

Several members of the National Integration Academy Council (NIAC) discuss the evolution of behavioral health integration (BHI) and its increasing emergence as the standard of care. The panel reviews the current state of BHI in primary care, provides an overview of its history, and discusses the future of integration. The NIAC has served as the technical expert panel for AHRQ’s Academy for Integrating Behavioral Health and Primary Care since its founding in 2010. Panelists include:

• Alexander Blount, Ed.D., is a Professor Emeritus of Family Medicine and Community Health at UMass Chan Medical School, where he founded the Center for Integrated Primary Care.
