National Prevention Week is May 12-18

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced the “Save the Date” for National Prevention Week: May 12-18, 2024. National Prevention Week is “... a public education platform showcasing the work of communities and organizations across the country that are preventing substance use and promoting positive mental health.” This year, SAMHSA is refocusing National Prevention Week to promote year-round prevention initiatives and is launching an ongoing virtual series to elevate prevention efforts across the nation and throughout the year. The AHRQ Academy also has over 200 items in its Substance Use Tools & Resources Collection on the prevention of substance use disorder, and over 4000 literature references on opioids & substance use more broadly in the Literature Collection. The Academy also has published Topic Briefs on several related topics, including low-threshold treatment for patients with opioid use disorder, usefulness of behavioral health apps, pregnant and postpartum women, polysubstance use, and stimulant use disorders.
