April is Alcohol Awareness Month, and we’re sharing two new resources the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) has released for managing unhealthy alcohol use in primary care.
- The Healthcare Professional’s Core Resource on Alcohol provides foundational knowledge on unhealthy alcohol use, information on alcohol-related health issues, and strategies for prevention and treatment. The Core includes:
- Free CME/CE credits that can help primary care providers to identify and support their many patients who have alcohol-related health concerns.
- The NIAAA Alcohol Treatment Navigator can help people locate quality providers; recognize quality, evidence-based care; and find trusted sources to search for specialty programs, therapists, and physicians. Key links within the navigator include:
