Prevention of Substance Use Disorder

This guide provides advice for parents on how to get started before talking to their child about substance use, how to prepare for the conversation, interevention strategies and sample dialogues, the do's and don'ts for a good conversation, and ways to help their child change their behavior.

In partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Adminstration's (SAMHSA)'s "Talk. They Hear You." campaign, this screener helps parents and caregivers better understand the health, wellness, and wellbeing of their children, by identifying areas that may benefit from more support and allows parents and caregivers to meet their kids where they are in these areas.
