Provides a basic introduction of the concepts of the disease model of addiction and the role of the reward system. Using neuroscience concepts as a foundation, clinical manifestations of the disease of addiction are then discussed in the form of case-based presentations.

The slides for this module describe the management of opioid withdrawal, including induction on to maintenance medication treatment, and overdose. Given the current dimensions of the opioid epidemic and elevated rates of prescribing high-potency opioids, they focus on strategies for implementing effective treatments for opioid use disorder.

Several clinical experts discuss the importance and the rewards of treating opioid use disorder patients using Medications for Treating Addictions.

These are slides for a webinar which reviewed the basic concepts and skills of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and employed MI skills and tools, to illustrate the practical applicability of these tools in clinical practice for their addiction and other patient populations.

These protocols for Emergency Department Medication-Assisted Treatment of Opioid Addiction were submitted to specialty societies for endorsement and publication in 2017.
