Substance Use Tools & Resources
This collection of tools and resources is for providers, staff, and patients who offer or use services to address substance use, and other interested stakeholders. This collection was originally established following an environmental scan on implementing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) in rural primary care. (See PDFs of Volume 1 [PDF 0.69 MB] and Volume 2 [PDF 1.28 MB] of that scan). Items have been continuously added to this collection since then, and the collection has expanded to cover substance use more broadly, rather than just MAT for OUD.

PAMI Pain Management and Dosing Guide
The PAMI Pain Management and Dosing Guide is a free tool for use by health care providers in hospital, EMS, or acute care settings. Content was developed after extensive literature review of pain, sedation, and analgesia medications for acute pain, chronic pain and procedural sedation in all ages. The guide was developed and reviewed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, pain specialists, and pharmacists. Dosing ranges should be used as a general guide and adapted to specific patient characteristics such as age and comorbidities. The guide includes oral, nasal, parenteral and topical medications for acute and chronic pain, anxiety, and procedural sedation as well as patient safety, discharge planning and nonpharmacologic management information.
