MAT Tools and Resources

The purpose of this manual is to introduce the ASSIST and to describe how to use it in health care settings – particularly community based primary health care settings – to identify people who are using substances, so that a brief intervention (or referral) can be provided, as appropriate.

The Decision Support Tool empowers providers to estimate Medicare and Medicaid revenue across prominent integrated care services to finance these services more effectively in community mental health care, substance use treatment and primary care provider organizations. It includes a list of specific billing codes, service types, professional discipline coverage, documentation and time requirements.

Examines how States and payers can use value-based payment to promote the integration of substance use disorder treatment in primary care

Describes risk factors for the development of opioid-related adverse events and how to mitigate these risks. Provides an overview of adverse events, including their symptoms and how to manage them.

These include physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, clinical psychologists, and clinical social workers.

Provides information about quality treatment for OUD and how to locate it.

Provides policymakers, State and local officials, and other community stakeholders with key questions to consider before engaging in efforts to increase access to MAT for addiction in their communities

Describes strategies to help reduce the potential for misuse or diversion of medication for SUD treatment.
