Uses a semistructured interview to address seven potential problem areas in substance-abusing patients: medical status, employment and support, drug use, alcohol use, legal status, family/social status, and psychiatric status.

Assesses symptoms of anxiety using a 7-item questionnaire that asks whether the patient has experienced anxiety-related problems in the previous 2 weeks and the impact they have had on the individual's life.

Assesses substance use disorder (SUD) risk among adolescents 12-17 years old.

Explains how to use the CRAFFT tool, which consists of a series of 6 questions developed to screen adolescents age 14 and over for high-risk alcohol and other drug use disorders.
