The National Integration Academy Council (NIAC) convened for a meeting on December 6-7, 2016, and a virtual meeting on March 29, 2017. The NIAC is a technical expert panel of nationally recognized professionals who have made valuable contributions to the field of integrating behavioral health and primary care. Members of the NIAC have included primary care and behavioral health clinicians, researchers, and experts in the areas of health finance, medical education and patient advocacy, health care for diverse populations, and health care policy.
The capabilities of the group have been strengthened by adding members with expertise in integrating medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder into rural primary care settings and in health information technology. With these new members, the NIAC will continue to play an important role in the work of the AHRQ Academy by lending expertise and providing guidance to all aspects of this project.
