Notice of Intent to Publish Funding Opportunity Announcement to Support the Management of Substance Use Disorders in Primary Care and other Ambulatory Settings (R18)
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is a government agency tasked with producing evidence to improve the quality of healthcare while working with partners to ensure that the evidence is understood and used. To address the continuing toll of Substance Use Disorders , AHRQ has posted a Notice of Intent to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement to support the Management of Substance Use Disorders in Primary Care and other Ambulatory Settings (R18). The proposed Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) announcement would use the R18 mechanism to support projects that develop and test strategies to improve the capacity of primary care and ambulatory settings to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care for people who misuse opioids and other substances. AHRQ is interested in projects that build on recent research on effective treatments and effective models of care and that lead to sustainable changes in how substance use disorder (SUD) care is delivered in primary care and/or develop lasting partnerships between primary care and other care settings. Currently, this notice encourages investigators with appropriate expertise and insights to begin to consider applying for this NOFO. The notice was released on January 13, 2023 and is available for review at: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-HS-23-007.html. Applications are not being requested at this time.
UPDATE: AHRQ released the NOFO announcement on February 10, 2023, and applications are now open.
