-

This session is part of the Recovery Science quarterly webinar series, an initiative sponsored by the Opioid Response Network and the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, and organized by the Recovery Research Institute at the Massachusetts General Hospital, focusing on youth substance use treatment and recovery.

Dr. Sarah Bagley will speak at the Opioid Response Network webinar series on Wednesday, July 8th at 12:00pm ET. Her talk is titled "Integrating Overdose Prevention and Opioid Use Disorder Treatment in Pediatric Primary Care".

This session reviews practical, evidence-based approaches for bringing overdose prevention and opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment into pediatric primary care. This session will also cover screening and risk assessment, brief counseling to reduce the consequences of drug use, naloxone distribution, and pathways for initiating and managing medications for OUD (including buprenorphine). Case-based examples will illustrate consent/parental involvement, confidentiality, adolescent developmental considerations, and coordination with behavioral health and community resources. Participants will leave with actionable steps to implement overdose prevention and OUD treatment for youth.
