Toll of Primary Care Cost-Sharing

-

On June 23, join the Primary Care Collaborative (PCC) for a discussion about how reducing or eliminating cost-sharing for primary care can help improve the nation’s health and enhance affordability of the health system – specifically by reducing patients’ financial barriers to care and removing red tape burdening practices.

Decades of research has demonstrated that access to high-quality, whole-person primary care can lead to healthier communities while also generating savings over the long term. Unfortunately, many Americans face unnecessary and counterproductive financial hurdles — such as copays and coinsurance — that discourage them from seeking the care they need. Missed or delayed care — particularly when it comes to chronic disease prevention and management — leads to erosion of health and more expensive specialty and acute care down the road.
