PCSS-MOUD Exchange 4 - Session Roadmap, Session 2 - Prepare

-

The PCSS-MOUD Exchange is a four-session course, hosted by the Clinical Providers Support System - Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (PCSS-MOUD), focused on the implementation of prescribing medications for treating opioid use disorder (MOUD) in a variety of healthcare settings.

Session 2: Review patient screening considerations and discuss how OUD screening can be integrated into current clinic workflows. Discuss the training and certifications required for specific team members to implement MOUD. Highlight the critical role of Champions, and how to strategically select Champions to support MOUD implementation.

Educational Objectives:

  • Discuss site needs assessment to identify facilitators and barriers to medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) implementation.
  • Identify potential OUD patients, using evidence-based screening tools, and consider how screening can be integrated into current workflows.
  • Review possible workflows, and the training and certifications required for specific team members to implement MOUD.
  • Discuss treatment team members, the critical role of Champions, and how to strategically select Champions.
  • Determine which metrics –immediate and long-term– are valuable to your site/program, and how you will gather relevant data. Consider how these metrics can be used to support federal/state reporting requirements, process improvement goals, and clinical decision-making in MOUD delivery.
