The National Council for Mental Wellbeing's Center of Excellence for Integrated Health Solutions (CoE-IHS) is launching the Comprehensive Health Integration (CHI) Framework and its suite of resources. The CHI framework guides providers, payers and state systems as they implement scalable bidirectional physical and behavioral health integration.

Featured Resources:

  • CHI Framework: A self-assessment tool to measure and improve integration.
  • CHI White Paper: Explanation of research supporting CHI domains and stages of integration.
  • CHI Self-assessment Guide: Detailed guide for teams using CHI to improve physical health and behavioral health integration.
  • CHI Definitions and Examples Handbook: Glossary and sample resources for CHI users.

Why Choose CHI?

  • Universal and bidirectional: Improves integration for all ages and populations in any mental health, substance use or physical health setting.
  • Evidence-based and research-supported: Built on evidence-based domains and models.
  • Flexible and sustainable: Applies to any program at any stage of integration and focuses on value for payers and populations to facilitate long-term financial sustainability.

These resources are now available to support organizations and systems in their integration journey.
