Unequal Treatment Revisited: Part 1 (Day 2)

-

The first workshop of a virtual series hosted by the National Academies’ ad hoc Committee on Unequal Treatment Revisited: The Current State of Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care will examine major developments over the past two decades that have contributed to the current state of racial and ethnic health care inequities. Speakers will explore the impact of such inequities among patients, families, and communities; assess the roles of clinicians and health care leaders in contributing to or mitigating the inequities; and discuss what could be done differently in communities to advance health care equity.

The workshop series is part of a consensus study that will provide insights into current interventions, including ways to scale and spread effective interventions; identify gaps in the evidence base and propose strategies to close those gaps; and make specific recommendations for change. This work builds on the 2003 Institute of Medicine consensus report, “Unequal Treatment: Confronting Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care.”

Note that this is Day 2 of the event. Day 1 will take place on June 12, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET.
