Training and Events Calendar

The Academy Training and Events calendar is an easy-to-use resource for healthcare professionals across all settings of care and specialties looking for educational opportunities to further their knowledge of integrating behavioral health with primary care. Some training opportunities are available as in-person meetings while others are conducted via live webinar. Opportunities are updated weekly, and the “filter” function can be used to search fields such as event type, location (virtual or in-person), CE/CME availability, and topic. Opportunities are identified from federal agencies and non-federal organizations, academic institutions, government agencies, and member associations conducting work in behavioral health integration.

The integration of healthcare in tribal communities necessitates flexibility and collaboration between Western medical practices and Indigenous healing traditions. This session will examine how integrating these models can foster a more comprehensive and culturally responsive approach to care. We will examine strategies for incorporating traditional medicine and healing practices into clinical settings, as well as methods for delivering culturally informed health education both within clinics and in the community. Such educational initiatives will promote prevention, intervention, and postvention for chronic health conditions, encompassing both medical and behavioral aspects. Additionally, we will explore how technological solutions, including telemedicine and remote patient monitoring, can mitigate access barriers and extend the reach of integrated care.

Objectives:

Identify strategies for integrating Indigenous medicine and healing practices into clinic-based care.

Examine how culturally informed health education, both within clinics and in the community, improves prevention, intervention, and postvention for chronic medical and behavioral health conditions.

Collaborate with community-based services, such as community health workers and diabetes educators to enhance integrated care.

Implement telemedicine and remote patient monitoring to patients facing access barriers.

Employ successful strategies grantee programs have applied to strengthen integrated care in their communities.

Credits: 1 hour of ACCME, ANCC, AAPA, ASWB, APA
To receive a certificate of continuing education, attendees must electronically sign-in for the session, participate in the entire live internet activity and complete the online evaluation.
